Arik Air line is a Nigerian airline , which came into existence in 2002. Its head office is the Arik Air Aviation Center which is located on the grounds of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, found in Ikeja, Lagos Estate.
It started its reconstruction work in 14th June, 2006 when it took over the former facilities of Nigeria Airways. Arik Air took two aircraft in 2006 for domestic flights to Nigeria and within the African continent. In the October of same year, Arik Air started its scheduled flights for passengers between Lagos and Abuja. Arik flights for Calabar started in 15th November, 2006 and the flights to Benin and Enugu were started on 7th January, 2007.
Nigerian government gave the deadline to all of its airlines operating in the country to re-register them and to be grounded in order to make the secure flights and to ensure security. Arik air satisfied NCAA (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority)’s criteria and re-capitalized itself for further operations.
In 2008, it started its flights to UK. On 5th august, 2010 Arik airlines welcomed its 5 millionth passenger on a flight between Johannesburg to Lagos. Arik airline has a strong network, having 20 domestic destinations and 9 international destinations.
